Body on a Budget

It’s time: You’re ready to lose weight and get healthy. But you don’t want to spend crazy money on a personal trainer or expensive meal plans. What can you do? Here are some ways you can create a healthy lifestyle without breaking the bank.

1. Create a budget.

Decide what your goals are (losing a specific amount of weight, eating healthier, exercising more) and create a reasonable budget for what you need to accomplish this. A gym membership? More veggies at the grocery store? Factor it in.

2. Try at-home workouts.

Check YouTube or Netflix for workout videos you can do without leaving your living room. You can also try a streaming fitness membership like Beachbody on Demand or LiveStreamingFitness, which come at a fraction of the cost of a gym membership and allow for busy schedules.

3. Drink more water.

Replace your sodas with water – it’s free and has zero calories! Don’t like it plain? You can infuse water with herbs or fruit for a delicious alternative. Experts recommend drinking half your body weight in ounces daily – so if you weigh 150 pounds, try to drink 75 ounces of water a day.

4. Move more.

Add more movement to your day in addition to your regular exercise. Breaking up your routine and sitting less at work can help you burn calories all day long. Try taking the stairs instead of the elevator. Park farther away to get more steps in. Try and get up from your desk at least once an hour – walk around the office, or even just stand up and stretch. Every bit helps!

It doesn’t take a ton of cash to make positive changes in your life. Save money and get healthier today!
