Food Diaries

Studies have shown that keeping track of what you eat for even one day can help you make healthier changes in your diet. There are several great apps for keeping track of your diet or you can jot things down in a notebook, but it’s important to be detailed and honest in order to start making better decisions.
Here are a few helpful hints to keep in mind when keeping your food diary:
  • Don’t change your eating habits unless the doctor has told you to do so.
  • Tell the truth. Keeping the diary for your medical provider or yourself will only be helpful if you record what you really eat.
  • Write everything down as soon as you can and be specific as possible. Make sure to include “extras,” such as cheese and sauces.
