Essential Oils for Healing

Essential oils are touted as effective ways to treat sickness and injury and providing peace of mind from selecting an all-natural remedy versus a synthetic medicine. They are easily metabolized by the body and perform their own natural healing function. Talk with your doctor about adding these high-performing healing oils to your medicine cabinet:

  • Lavender oil can be applied to speed up healing time for cuts, bites and bruises. It can also be used to calm and soothe.
  • Peppermint oil can be used to cool a fever and also helps to relieve nausea and morning sickness. It can also be paired with lavender and applied to the temples to lessen the intensity of headaches and migraines.
  • Eucalyptus oil is a powerful antibacterial and antiviral oil that can be used to combat colds and congestion. Simply add a few drops to steaming water and inhale to clear both nasal passages and lungs. You can also add a few drops to a cloth or bandana throughout the day to help prevent a cold.
  • Tea Tree oil is another effective antibacterial, antifungal and antiseptic. It is also very strong, so it’s important to mix it with a carrier oil (a mild oil like coconut oil) before applying. It helps to treat cuts, scrapes, bites, flaky scalp and dry skin. Try a tea tree oil/coconut oil combination as an acne treatment.
